Spice 4 U
Is very good, clean modern and bright with good food although it gets very busy at weekends. They also do takeaways. 41 Hungate, Pickering.
Italian
Figaros
Its on the right hand side of Pickering high street. Kevin and I tried it out recently and it was very good food. Pasta, Pizza and what you would expect from an Italian.
A SPECIAL OCCASION
White Swan
Is located on Pickering high street. We think it is excellent, quite “foody”. A main course costs about £12 – £18.
Pet Friendly in Bar Area
Fox and Hounds Sinnington
About three miles out of Pickering on the way to Helmsley. It has a restaurant as well as the pub food and has a very good and well deserved reputation. You really need to book though especially on weekends; it is slightly pricier than some of the pub meals but is very good.
Pub Food
Fox & Rabbit, Lockton (Pet friendly)
Located on the main Whitby road at Lockton about 6 miles from Pickering. The pub is always busy and serves excellent food. Steak night on Tuesday is always full so you have to book.
Black Swan, Pickering (Pet friendly)
Good food and a great selection of craft beers on tap including those from their own on-site brewery.
Horseshoe Inn, Levisham
Good food and a great selection of craft beers on tap including those from their own on-site brewery.
The Horseshoe Inn is a family run establishment set in the peace and tranquility of Levisham village within the North York Moors National Park, about 2 miles from the A169 Whitby to Pickering road. An idyllic destination for a relaxing country break or meal. Fantastic food and great atmosphere.
The Moors Inn, Appleton-Le-Moors (Pet friendly)
A proper country pub with excellent food and great beer approximately 7 miles from Pickering towards Helmsley. Open seven evenings and Sunday lunchtime. Dogs allowed in the bar.

The best Fish Restaurants in the area are probably in Whitby. There are two that are locally acclaimed as the best;
Magpie Cafe Whitby
Housed in our distinctive black and white building overlooking Whitby harbour, the Magpie Café is in a prime position for you to enjoy the fabulous views of Whitby at the same time as sampling the wide selection of meals. Specialities include dishes that use prime fresh local fish, seafood and specially selected ingredients.
Trenchers Restaurant, Whitby
Situated on Whitby’s iconic harbour side, Trenchers provides the perfect setting for all of the family and parties of any size with booth seating throughout and friendly service at every visit.
Fish & CHIPS Take Away
Several fish and chip shops in Pickering to choose from. Both these are within walking distance of the cottages.
Capplemans Fish & Chips, Pickering
Situated in Pickering High Street with both a takeaway and cafe it is very popular with our guests.
Potter Hill Fisheries
This a a traditional fish and chip takeaway located at the other side of Pickering and about ten minutes walk away. You can call them and pre-order for collection on 01751 472687. You can drive and usually get parked reasonably close.
